I didn't test it with other OS's, but I'd bet on it working.
Pros: Just grab an old IDE 2.5 inch drive and slap her in there, takes minutes and the drive is secure in a very durable heat-resistant case. The dual-power cable is awesome for delivering maximum power to the drive, and speeds of 8000 KB/s are normal.
Cons: The enclosure is very compact, and the screws holding the PCB board in a very tiny. I dropped one! Had to use an old watch battery. I love the size though, fits in my pocket with room to spare, and I'm no small guy. Cable in one pocket, drive in another, and you've got the room to store all your portable photo's, apps, shows, anything you want!
Other Thoughts: You must get one of these, I'm considering ordering another, slapping a 40gb drive in it. The aluminum casing keeps the drive hot, no matter what temperature it runs at. When I first pulled it out of the mail box I thought it was an ice cube!
Bottomline: The price is perfect for a device of such useful quality. The cable delivers an amazing 10v DV @ 1a combined. More than enough power for the drive inside. The speed is great, even on my old drive with a 128kb buffer. Newer drives with a 2mb buffer should provide a very solid performing combination for any use.
